Why Use Jigs?
Consistent Results
Jigs ensure that each piece is identical to every other piece. You can be sure that you can 20 or 30 trestle bents that all look alike.
Jigs let you speed up your work. You just put some glue on the wood, pop it into the jig, and let it dry. You don't have to individually adjust every piece of wood.
All of our jigs are relieved around the glue joints. That makes it much more difficult to get glue on the jig, or glue your bridge to the jig. White glue can be easily washed off, but it is easier to avoid the problem. If you are brave enough to use CA glue, the reliefs will keep you out of serious trouble.
All of our jigs have holes in the base around the glue joints. This gives you access to clean up those joints and make them look really good.
A jig provides a fixture for cutting your material.
Jigs Allow Design Flexibility
You can build a lot of different bridges with one jig.
Use continuous bottom chords to add strength to a series of bridges.
Jig slots are open on the ends so you can make the bridge longer by adding a panel.
You can make the bridge shorter by removing a panel.
You can build the bridges in any sequence.
Trestles can be any height. And they can be combined with other bridges.
