The distinctive shape (four straight legs all tilted toward the center) is seen on a number of standard gauge railroads in the late 1800's and early 1900's. These trestles are the basis for the Standard Gauge D&RGW design.

| The FALSE FRAME BENT has the look of the prototype without the difficulty of construction. | The NOTCHED FRAME BENT looks like the prototype but is much stronger. The legs are continuous from the top cap to the ground. | The TRUE FRAME BENT is prototype modeling at its best. You will be surprised by how easy it is to build this bent. | ||

Construction Jig and Instructions This kit comes with the new "4-leg" assembly jig that allows all of the above construction techniques. A FRAME BENT is characterized by horizontal sills that interrupt the vertical legs. They were common in southern Colorado and New Mexico where the trees don't grow as tall as the do in other parts of the country. All the instructions, drawings, and documentation you need is included with the jig. Eight pages of step-by-step instructions show how to build the bents and install the trestle in your layout. A full size drawing shows you complete details of this classic narrow gauge trestle design. The jig can be purchased separately if you already have all the wood you need. Materials Pack Wood is supplied in bulk - 24" long pieces. That makes it easier to build long and tall trestles. If you want to build a trestle twice as tall, buy two materials packs. If you want to build a trestle twice as tall and twice as long buy four materials packs. You can buy as many materials packs as you need without having to buy another jig. NBW Pack An NBW Pack (TJN-S) for S scale trestle kits is available under S Scale Kits > Accessories. |
