Black Bear Trestle Jig, TJ-D5LO

This models the five-leg trestle in a double track design. When used with two Black Bear TJM-5LO Materials Packs (purchased separately), it builds a 40' tall x 120' long, double track trestle.
The bents may be built in the pile design, where the legs extend all the way from the top cap down into the ground, or in the frame design where the legs rest on a sill at the base. The jig includes a sliding leg cutting guide that makes it easier to cut the frame bent legs.

BENT ASSEMBLY
|
|
Black Bear DOUBLE TRACK trestle jigs make it even easier to build double track trestles. The center-to-center track spacing has been set after considering (1) the NMRA Standards for straight and curved track, (2) additional space to allow for handling, coupling and un-coupling, and (3) modular standards.

HO Scale Jig
|
- Laser cut acrylic with 1/4" thick base and 1/16" top plate.
- Builds standard gauge, double track, O scale trestle bent.
- Easily cleaned with soap and water.
- White glue does not stick to the jig.
- Slots work with 1/4" x 1/4" (O scale 12" x 12") wood.
- Clearance hole keeps glue away from the jig and lets you clean the glue joints front and back.
- For taller trestles, extend the legs out the end of the jig.

Materials Pack
Wood is supplied in bulk - 24" long pieces. That makes it easier to build long and tall trestles. There is enough bracing material to install diagonal braces and girts throughout the trestle. If you want to build a double track trestle twice as tall, buy four materials packs. You can buy as many materials packs as you need without having to buy another jig.
NBW Pack
NBW's are not included with the kit. An NBW Pack (TJN-S) for O scale trestle kits is available under HO Scale Kits > Accessories. It will take about two NBW packs for the double track trestle shown above.
Track-Track Center Spacing
National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) Recommended Practices (RP's) specify minimum center-to-center track spacing for a variety of car lengths and radii. The RP's also specify a minimum "Easy Handling" center distance for uncoupling, etc. The table below presents a summary of these minimum track spacings.
