THE PROTOTYPE

The prototype for this exercise is a ballasted deck trestle used by Union Pacific between Flatonia and Shiner, Texas.

These are frame trestle bents with concrete footings.
THE MODEL

We are going to build the trestle with an open deck.

All the materials are provided and yours to keep:
  • The Black Bear Construction Co., HO scale jig of your choice   (See the five choices below.)
  • Pre-cut legs, top caps, sills, and braces
  • Fabricated stringer stock
  • All wood pre-stained
Tools and supplies will be available, or bring your own tweezers, sanding stick, and glue.

The five styles shown below are available for the clinic.   Or bring your own HO Scale Black Bear Jig to class.   Contact Mike Barrett to make arrangements.  If you are bringing an AT&SF, A&SM, or RGS jig to class, you must contact Mike by April 30 to make sure he has the materials you need.
